What is translation?

The linguistic sciences see translation as the transfer of a fixed (usually written) text from a source language to a target language.

Translation – along with interpreting – is deemed to have the purpose of conveying language and culture (translation). The most significant difference between translation and interpretation is that with translation the source text is fixed and may thus be consulted repeatedly while the source text with interpretation is not fixed (it is usually spoken).

What are your options?

Example: You have a supplier’s agreement which needs to be translated into English. You can simply send us the text (via email, fax or post) for a same-day estimate so you can get an idea of the cost. You may okay the translation or contact us to clarify any uncertainties that you may have should the price meet your budget. Unless you have a particular deadline, we will contact you with a possible return date for the translation. If you send us the contract as a Word file, you will receive the translation as a Word file. Email is the quickest way to go – but we’d be happy to deliver the finished translation by post if you prefer.

Special format needed?

The range of formats that we’re able to work with includes QuarkXpress, Freehand, Pagemaker etc. We’re even able to provide DTP services!

In-house terminology?

Not a problem! We’ll be easily able to incorporate your preferred terminologies from the start and so rule out any time-consuming follow-up corrections if you send us your terminologies before work on the translation commences.
You’ll be assigned a ‘personal’ translator for your translation needs in your respective target language to preserve the consistency of your terminologies. Our translation tools even include SDL Trados to maintain the terminologies and constantly update them. Contexts are not always apparent even after extensive research by the translator (such as when translating a particular word). A conscientious translator will always double-check. No translation should be left to chance!
